I think I heard someone ask on Create and Craft sometime ago if this could be done on the machine and the answer was “No you would have to do it in Canvas”, then I saw a video a while ago on the internet of how it could be done and Ive been meaning to pass the information on but something else always got in the way.
So Ive made a video showing exactly how to do it
and credited the original channel for the info.
You may wonder why you would want to add a 1/4 inch seam allowance on the inside of a scanned shape, well sometimes if you print and scan a pattern for a quilt block for example, the 1/4 inch may have already been built into the pattern size, in that instance if you then print and scan it and add the seam allowance in the normal way all your pieces will be bigger than the pattern intended.
I hope that makes sense, it may be best to watch the video as i use the pen tool to draw and then cut to show you the comparisons.
So I recently came across this little ITH coin purse on the net and the embroidery file is available free from Five Star Fonts.
I have a great sewing/Embroidery machine and don’t really use for embroidery as much as I should, so I decided to have a go at making this little purse and I thought I would share the process with you as I did it for anyone who is new to this type of thing like me.
I followed the PDF instructions and it was very easy to do as you will see from my video. I hope you like it.
The link to the embroidery file is in the comments box below the video.
